JOB PURPOSE

The School Shop staff supports the School Shop Manager during the setup and the running of the annual Essentials Fair. As a first point of contact for new families arriving in the school, the School Shop Staff must act as an ambassador for the school.

Roles available: School Shop Team Leader, Essentials Fair Assistant.

GENERAL REQUIREMENTS
An ideal candidate will:
  • Be reliable, flexible and available during the period required

  • Have effective communication skills and good interpersonal skills

  • Work well as part of a team

  • Be confident and a reassuring presence to new students who are often quite nervous

  • Have basic IT skills

KEY TASKS AND RESPONSIBILITIES
School Shop Team Leader
  • Performing all duties of a School Shop Assistant with higher proficiency

  • Supervising and training new or less experienced shop assistants

  • Attending a morning Team Leader briefing each day

  • Leading by example in providing exceptional customer service and motivating the team

Essentials Fair Assistant
Setup
  • General help with the setup of the Essentials Fair, including moving and transporting large boxes and furniture

  • Counting and labelling of stock, control of barcodes and general preparation of stock

  • Distribution and delivery of stationery orders to the various buildings throughout the school

  • Stock maintenance, including inventory, barcode labelling, and preparation

During the Fair
  • To sell to and advise students and parents on the purchase of their new uniforms and expeditions kit

  • Use the checkout system for the invoicing of all purchases

  • Labelling with name tapes all clothing purchased

  • Help in the distribution and delivery of the uniforms to the various boarding houses

After the Fair
  • Help pack away all left-over stock and restock the shop as instructed by the School Shop Manager

OTHER TASKS AND RESPONSIBILITIES
  • Undertake any other tasks which may be reasonably required by the School Shop Manager to assist in the smooth running of the School Shop

  • Understand and implement all school policies and procedures, particularly those relating to safeguarding children and young people

  • Understand the School’s Guiding Principles and uphold the ethos of the School at all times
